The Indian Military Academy, Dehradun (IMA) is the officer training Academy of the Indian Army. IMA was established in 1932. The academy is located at the foothills of the Himalayas in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.
The Indian Naval Academy (INA) is the initial officer training establishment of the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard. It is located in Ezhimala, Kannur district of Kerala. The INA has a 7 kilometre beach front on the Arabian Sea. It conducts basic training for all officers inducted into the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard.
The Officers Training Academy, Chennai (OTA) trains officers for the Short Service Commission. It was established in 1963. The academy is spread over 750 acres about 15 km south of Chennai, India. In 2011, a new academy was set up at Gaya. The 49-week course at the OTA prepares graduates for all branches of the Army, except for the Army Medical Corps.
The Air Force Academy was established in 1969 and started in 1971. It is located at Dundigal, about 25 km away from the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The academy was set up to train cadets from all streams at one location. It imparts training to the Flying, Technical and Ground Duty Branches as well as officers of the Army, Navy and Indian Coast Guard.
